 * Once again, the Ridgewood Pool will serve as home pool for our outstanding local swim team--The Ridgewood Barracudas.  As a result, the pool will be closed to public swimming until 1:00P.M. on some Saturdays that will be posted at a later date.  The four remaining pools will be open regular hours on these dates.

POOLS

Our five community pools and sprayground operate from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, seven days a week. For admittance to aquatics facilities, members need a validated membership card. Please see the Membershippage on how to obtain membership cards.

Pool Guest Passes
All guests must be accompanied by an LRPRA member and have a valid guest pass.  Guest Passes may be purchased at the administration office or at the pool. Exact change or a check is needed for purchases at the pools. Each guest needs one pass per day.

RED CROSS SWIM LESSONS

Red Cross classes are taught by a certified instructor

Infant & Toddler
The Infant & Preschool program helps young children become comfortable in and around the water so they are ready to learn to swim. Prerequisite: 6 months through 5 years of age. Cost: LRPRA Members: $45; Non-Members: $50

Level 1 (Water Exploration)
The object of level 1 is to help students feel comfortable in the water and enjoy the water safely. The course will cover supported floating and kicking on front and back, alternating arm action, water safety rules, and fundamentals of using a life jacket. There are no prerequisites for this course. Cost: LRPRA Members: $55 Non-members: $60

Level 2 (Primary Skills)
The object of level 2 is to give students success with fundamental skills. The course will cover floating and kicking on front and back, turning over front and back, reaching and extension assists, familiarity with rescue breathing. Prerequisite: Students must be able to demonstrate all requirements of level 1. Cost: LRPRA Members: $55 Non-members: $60

Level 3 (Stroke Readiness)
The object of level 3 is to build on the skills of level 2 by providing additional guided practice. The course will cover fundamentals of elementary backstroke, jumping into deep water with a life jacket, diving from side of pool, treading water, self-rescue skills, rescue breathing. Prerequisite: Students must be able to demonstrate all requirements of level 2. Cost: LRPRA Members: $55 Non-members: $60

Level 4 (Stroke Development)
The objective of level 4 is to develop confidence and competency in strokes and safety beyond preceding level. The course will cover deep-water bobbing, dives from side of pool from stride and standing positions, breaststroke and sidestroke, turns at the wall, familiarity with CPR. Prerequisite: Students must be able to demonstrate all requirements of level 3. Cost LRPRA Members: $55 Non-members: $60

Level 5 (Stroke Refinement)
The object of level 5 is to develop confidence and competency in strokes and safety. The course will cover alternate breathing, swimming underwater, butterfly, open turns on front and back, diving safely, beginning diving progression from diving board (optional). Prerequisite: Students must be able to demonstrate all requirements of level 4. Cost: LRPRA Members: $55 Non-members: $60

Level 6 (Skill Proficiency)
The object of level 6 is to refine the strokes so students swim them with ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. Level 6 is designed with "menu" options. Each of these options focus on preparing students to participate in more advanced courses, such as Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Training. These options include:
              1.  Diving Fundamentals 
              2.  Fitness Swimming
              3.  Lifeguard Readiness
              4.  Personal Water Safety
Prerequisite: students must be able to demonstrate all requirements of level 5. Cost: LRPRA Members: $55 Non-members: $60


 Swim Lesson Schedule 2008 

Group Lesson (Red Cross) Registration Fees:  Space is limited, and registration is required.  Students must pre-register by registration deadline.  Levels may be combined.  Sessions are 2 weeks: Monday – Thursday with Friday as a rain day.   For information, call 703.491.2154 ext. 116.

Ridgewood Barracudas Swim Team
